The Ministry of Health on Friday engaged with Journalist in the Northern region under Nyika Media club (NMC).
This meeting which happened at Illala Crest in Mzuzu tackles on Various issues such as Mpox, measles, and Cholera outbreaks.
The Spokesperson of Ministry of Health, Adrian Chikumbe, highlighted that: "The orientation sought to empower Journalist with reliable updates and strengthen the Country's response to health emergencies".
"As a ministry, we want to update the public on the current Mpox situation, While we don't have any confirmed cases at the moment, we've recorded 44 suspected cases, all of which tested negative".
He added that we are partnering with media to make sure the public receives accurate information on disease prevention.
Nyika Media Club chairperson, Feston Malekezo appreciate the role of Journalist in raising public awareness.
He said: "Journalist are agents of behaviour change, which means the more they, the greater the influence on promoting positive behaviour for behaviour prevention".
One of the Journalists attended the meeting, Dumisani Prince Tembo said the meeting has made us as Journalist to know what we need to disseminate to the public. "The meeting equip us with information because we're the people who disseminate information on various matters and we're glad for the meeting".
